Presented as part of the Journées de la culture, this cultural activity consists of an artistic tour during which participants are invited to collect works / prints by artists selected by DARE-DARE.

CALL FOR ARTISTS LIVING IN THE SOUTHWEST OF MONTREAL
(Including Verdun, Lachine and the surroundings)

DARE-DARE multidisciplinary art center, invites artists residents of the Southwest boroughs including Verdun, Lachine and surroundings, to participate in the fourth edition of PASSPORT DARE-DARE, which will take place on Saturday October 1st near the Atwater market.

 This cultural activity is a walking circuit where participants will collect stamped artwoks created by 15 local artists. Free for the occasion, the blank passport will be filled with original artworks throughout the day, creating a unique and exclusive book to collect over the years!

 As part of this activity, DARE-DARE invites artists to submit a 2D work that acts as a transposition of their usual practice. To be eligible, the artwork must relate to DARE-DARE’s theme “The society of Rendez-vous” or to have a connection with the ideas of passport, borders and territory. Artists are invited to submit a printed type of work, or a sticker to paste, a photograph, a seal, a short performance to include when stamping or any other medium leaving a mark in the passport itself. ELIGIBILITY:

  • Propose a project related to DARE-DARE’s theme “The society of Rendez-vous”, or in connection with the following themes: passport, borders and territory.
  • The artist must live, have lived or occupy a studio in the Southwest borough including Verdun, Lachine or nearby.
  • Be present the day of the project, Saturday October 1st from 10 am to 6 pm.

 
DARE-DARE will give 200.00$ to each selected artist, deal with manufacturing costs of the stamp and inkstand (if the artist consists of a different medium, DARE-DARE will pay the price of materials to a maximum of 40.00$).

 

YOUR PROPOSAL MUST INCLUDE:

  • The description (150 words) of your project based on your own artistic practice and in relation with the theme of the “Society of Rendez-vous”, the passport, the border or territory.
  • An original illustration designed exclusively for this project. The document must be a PDF or vectored 300 dpi jpg format 3 x 5 inches maximum.
  • The desired ink color for your artwork.


The location of stamping will be awarded according to the possibilities of the circuit. We will attempt to find the most relevant places to each artist’s individual approach.


N.B. The artists who participated in previous editions are not eligible for the 2016 edition.
