Martin Boisseau

Deuxième temps : rotatif

It is an investigation around the movements of the camera and the monitor. More precisely, a device where the movement of the monitor cancels the movement made by the camera at the time of the shooting.

It is an investigation around the movements of the camera and the monitor. More precisely, a device where the movement of the monitor cancels the movement made by the camera at the time of the shooting. Metaphorically, in this piece, two techniques meet: one mechanical (motor and electricity), the other more technological (media, video). The visitor can interrupt the rotary movement of a monitor on a pivot that rotates continuously at 5.76 rpm by pressing a pedal. The image includes an aerial view of a hand making a circular drawing. Five drawings will be displayed in the gallery.

Martin Boisseau lives and works in Montreal. From July to November 1997, he had a correspondence with Nycole Paquin about his work, which was published in the spring 1998 issue of the magazine Espace.
