Amoureux flous is interested in the gaze of the other, a gaze constantly immersed in a work of definition. What defines us, if not the gaze of the other? At the heart of the installation, a slippery focus keeps two lovers in a romantic but deceptive blur.

The audio-video installation occupies two opposite sides of the wall. As the projections face each other, the whole room becomes inhabited by the beams of light that intersect and mix. Each image presents a male character whose presence is uncertain, even swept away. These characters are, tirelessly, looking for a simultaneous focus that would put them, at least for a moment, on the same wavelength.

Michel Laforest's (Montreal) video work deals with the doubling of images and their meeting zones, and has been presented at festivals in Canada, Brazil and Europe. His multimedia projects have been shown at the Épicentre web gallery and by Perte de signal. He is completing his master's degree in visual and media arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
