Nomadic artist Nicolas Chiffe (Brighton, England) studies the architecture and history of major North American cities from which he creates "dreamlike architectural hypotheses". Crystal Penthouses followed a three-month stay in Montreal in 1996. The project consists of a series of drawings, plans, photomontages and sculptures illustrating downtown skyscrapers topped with crystal domes. This parasitic architecture, linked by aerial tunnels, made reference to the "underground city", to the ice palaces of the beginning of the century, to science fiction and to modernist utopia.
On the opening day, Nicolas Chiffe presents his previous projects in Chicago and Wyoming.
