Micro-residency at La HALTE

This summer, DARE-DARE invites you to experience a research blitz in the public space. The micro-residencies aim to question and (re)animate our relationship to reading, archives and exchange.

Call for proposals
Micro-residencies at La HALTE
Deadline: JUNE 1, 2024 (11:59 pm)

► 2 residencies of 2 days are offered. DARE-DARE invites you to enjoy a very brief research experience in public space at La HALTE (Pavilion of reference and reflection on art in the public space) in summer 2024. We're making the center's library available for you to browse in any way you like, to extract elements or combinations that are meaningful, flamboyant, contradictory or intuitive over a two-day period in July or August 2024. The two-day period is flexible (consecutive or not), but it should be noted that searches taking place after the October 15 date will have to be carried out at the DARE-DARE offices, where the collection will be repatriated due to the seasonal closure of HALTE.

After a period of reflection, your residency will culminate in the creation of a collective reading circle, reinvented in the light of your discoveries and research practices. We believe that creating unique links between books in a relatively spontaneous way will enable us to propose unifying experiences that question our relationship to reading, archives and exchange. We are therefore looking for profiles capable of creating unique links through our works. You are welcome to combine this activity with culinary and/or performative elements to enrich the experience, if desired.

DARE-DARE invites people who wish to explore and experiment with new crossroads of research.

DARE-DARE invites artists and researchers with a low profile in dominant cultural institutions and at all career stages to submit a project. The selection will be made by a committee of active members of the center.

The center offers :

  • A fee of $950
  • Photographic, audio or video documentation
  • Support for project coordination, dissemination and promotion
  • An amount reserved for the cost of materials for the workshop or public sharing

Your proposal, in a form that suits you, should address these three points:

  • Explain your artistic and/or research practice
  • Explain your interest in the project and how you intend to engage with our book collection
  • Describe the form you envisage for public sharing
  • Attach an example of a research project you have carried out in the past (finalized or not)

Accepted formats: PDF documents, mp3 sound, mp4 video (max. 5 minutes), max. 15 JPG images, website

Proposals will be accepted until June 1, 2024 (23:59) at: prog@dare-dare.org

Proposals received after this date will not be considered. For any questions or particular needs, please contact Rhys Buhl at: prog@dare-dare.org.

La HALTE and our collection

The HALTE offers a meeting space to share its documentary resources and artistic publications with a wider public. It also presents a program of micro-projects revolving around reading, writing, poetry, theorizing, reading, books and the library.

The HALTE wishes to promote accessibility to documentation in order to offer documentary tools specifically related to public art and contextual projects. It covers a selection of publications addressing the themes of art in public space, art and politics, action art, decolonization of the arts, architecture and design, urbanism, citizen and participatory approaches, relations to territories, and more!

If you would like to become familiar with our collection, here is the list of HALTE books to consult it > HERE.
