Call for proposals 2026

research micro-residency at La HALTE

This summer, DARE-DARE invites you to experience a research blitz in the public space. The micro-residencies aim to question and (re)animate our relationship to reading, archives and exchange.

Call for Proposals
Micro-Residencies at the HALTE
Deadline: Sunday, May 31, 2026 (11:59 PM)

Two 2-day residencies are offered.

DARE-DARE invites you to take part in a very brief research experience in the public space at the HALTE (a pavilion dedicated to reflection on art in public space) in summer 2026. We provide access to the centre’s open-air library, to be explored in whatever way suits you, in order to extract meaningful, vibrant, contradictory, or intuitive elements or combinations over a two-day period in July or August 2026.

The two-day research phase within the collection is flexible (consecutive days or not).

Following a period of reflection, and building on your literary exploration, your residency will culminate in a second phase with the creation of a collective activity—such as a reading circle, a creative workshop, or a reimagined public sharing—shaped by your discoveries and research practice. We believe that forging unique connections between works in a relatively spontaneous way can foster engaging experiences that question our relationship to reading, archives, the book as an object, and the exchange of ideas. We are therefore seeking individuals capable of creating original connections across our collection. You are invited to incorporate culinary and/or performative elements into this activity to enrich the experience, if desired.

DARE-DARE invites individuals interested in exploring and experimenting with new creative intersections in research.

Your proposal, in a format of your choice, should address the following three points:

  • Describe your artistic and/or research practice
  • Explain your interest in this type of micro-residency
  • Provide an example of a research project you have carried out in the past (completed or not)

Accepted formats: PDF document, MP3 audio file (max. 5 minutes), MP4 video (max. 5 minutes), JPG images (max. 15), website

The centre offers:

  • Residency fee: $700
  • Reproduction rights fee: $350
  • Photographic, audio, or video documentation
  • Support for coordination, dissemination, and promotion of the project

Please submit all materials before May 31, 2026 (11:59 PM) to: prog@dare-dare.org.

Please note that applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

For any questions, please contact Martin Dufrasne at: prog@dare-dare.org
