This residency program lasts 8 weeks on a continuous basis. DARE-DARE seeks to create a closer relationship between a professional artist and the neighbourhoods of Saint-Henri and Little Burgundy and provides close accompaniment.

As part of its two-part call for proposals (interventions, residency and public writings), the DARE-DARE artist-run center is seeking proposals for research projects and artistic dissemination to design its 2023-2024 programming. The selected professional artists will be invited to make public space their playground and to activate the theme of mutual becoming.

Becoming and doing together challenges the multiple forms and modalities of being communities. Considering the specificities and current issues related to the neighborhood in which the center is located, DARE-DARE wishes to engage in a collective and inclusive reflection on the public space of the Southwest neighborhoods in Montreal/Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang.

What issues motivate us? What associations are possible for us? What ethics guide us? The projects presented will put into practice - through strategies of sharing and companionship - our ways of building, inhabiting, or living together, as well as our mechanisms of encounters and confluences, here and now, in the environment where we choose to make our roots and care for our relationships. 

How do we envision mutual futures, in real, imagined, and multiple spaces? How to build the alliances, the ramifications, the rhizomes, and the constellations necessary to grow in reciprocity?

The call is addressed to artists who wish to inscribe art in everyday life, who wish to interfere in the geographical and social environment through stratagems of all kinds and of varying durations. DARE-DARE invites you to consider site specific art in dialogue with the context in which the Center is positioned or, new genre public art to generate encounters, gestures, collaborations, situations in new and non-dedicated places for the presentation of art.

The objective of the CONFLUENCES residency is to put DARE-DARE's expertise at the service of an artist to activate a research-creation project lasting two months, but also to use the socio-cultural, historical, and current soil of the Sud-Ouest, to highlight points of reflection, revelation, and ramification from its community heritage (stories, anecdotes, celebrations) and its architectural heritage. DARE-DARE offers:

Borrowing the brief form of a slogan, a haiku or a tweet, these short sentences, aphorisms, poems or questions are displayed for a week on an illuminated sign located in Sainte-Cunégonde Park (Little Burgundy district). The texts are thus made visible, day and night, to the passers-by who transit near the documentation stop of the artist-run center. We wish to offer this component to four artists/writers who wish to explore the theme of mutual futures. Each person will be asked to create 12 written formulas of a maximum of 15 words each (21 characters per line). Join some examples to your proposal.
