Cocagne (Jean Gagné and Serge Gagné)

Anti-histoire de l’Amérique

DARE-DARE proposes an exhibition of collages made by Jean and Serge Gagné for their film "Le royaume ou l'asile".

DARE-DARE proposes in collaboration with Films du Crépuscule international an exhibition of collages made for the film "Le royaume ou l'asile" by Jean and Serge Gagné. Their work is one of re-interpretation, of re-composition made among other things from raw elements drawn from commercially produced imagery: photos, advertising, reportage... This bulk reservoir delivered to the manipulation of allegories is metamorphosed into an original work encrusted with the discursive framework of the original elements, their ideological functions, their social dimensions, and the remnants of their first uses. The collages, in addition to constituting the elements of an anti-discourse, also serve as filmic support, as parts of the set for the cinematographic creation.

Here are Jean Gagné's (b. Jonquière 1947) and Serge Gagné's (b. Jonquière 1946) principal cinematographic achievements: Jean Gagné directed, edited and wrote the following films: 1967-68, "Saison Cinquième", 1971-73, "La tête au neutre", 1975, "Une semaine dans la vie de camarades". He co-directed, edited and wrote the following films: 1973, "L' ou 'L", 1980, "A vos risques et périls", 1986, "La couleur encerclée", which received a bonus from SOGICQ, 1989, "Le Royaume ou l'Asile", post-production, "Des murs, des murs". Serge Gagné co-wrote and produced "Une semaine cans la vie ce camarades" in 1975. He was co-director, co-writer and producer of the following films: 1973, "L' ou 'L", 1980, "A vos risques et périls", 1986, "La couleur encerclée", 1989, "Le Royaume ou l'Asile", post-prod, "Des murs, des murs". He is the producer of Pierre Goupil's "La vérité est un mensonge", in development.
