DARE-DARE is pleased to welcome French artist Damien Beguet on Wednesday, April 13. Beguet will give a presentation on his artistic practice about infiltrating the industrial environment, an approach linking art and business as an artistic commerce.
Under the title DAMIEN BEGUET micromat, Beguet will present himself as an entrepreneur re-appropriating for artistic ends the industrial aesthetic and marketing logic. (logos, publicity, promotional products, mascots, subcontracting, co-production, sponsorship, bankruptcy buy-outs, etc.) Beguet has collaborated with businesses like the hospitality group Accor and within the food industry through the company Whaou. Recently, he purchased the exclusive rights for the signature, the archives and the work of artist Ludovic Chemarin (who ended his practice in 2005).

Damien Beguet lives and works in Lyon, France. Coming out of l’école des Beaux-Arts de Lyon he questioned the place, diffusion and reception of the work of art. He explores the economic system of art and reflects on the notions of market value and the instumentaliztion of the artist. Using humour and cynicism the artist infiltrates, transforms and parodies our societal codes.
