mnémosyne pont de glace
Event postponed
Public presentation on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at 2515 rue Delisle
mnémosyne pont de glace is a zine conceived by Daniel Fiset at the invitation of DARE-DARE, where he acted as researcher-in-residence for the year 2023-2024. Rooted in Devenirs mutuel.le.s, the theme of the center's annual programming, mnemosyne pont de glace links observations on the projects of artists Laurence Beaudoin-Morin, Lina Choi, Mighty Sarah Johnson and Sarah Zakaib to two events: in 1924, the first working sessions on the Mnemosyne atlas, by German art historian Aby Warburg; in 1824, the inauguration of the Lachine Canal and the formation of ice bridges along the St. Lawrence River.
The zine will be the subject of a research presentation on Thursday, May 9, at 6:00 pm. Daniel will talk about the process of making the project and the avenues of reflection followed during the year, and will guide a short watercolor on ice activity.
