Paintings

Diving into the inner being, Darren Millington's pictorial research reshapes our perception of the anthrope into an allegory of the body and its affect.

Darren Millington's pictorial research plunges into the inner self, reworking our perception of the anthrope into an allegory of the body and its affect. These tawny beings, worked in stains, chiaroscuro and evanescent forms, give us an intimate vision of a transcended humanity.

"It is in the light of the literary thought of Borges and Faulkner; the figurative metaphors of Tamayo and the frank, visceral imagery of Dubuffet that I pursue what could be designated as an approach to essentialism. I hope to achieve this physical and spiritual essence by laying bare the human form in order to rediscover its body/heart."
