DARE-DARE presents the recent work of Louis Durocher.
I approach painting as a means of recording the traces we leave of our time here. Painting becomes the conscious way in which we look at these traces, while borrowing from the codes of nature. Here, the canvas becomes earth, this matrix earth, to the sides of which all traces will be resorbed. Painted wooden panels of different sizes, some placed on the floor of the gallery like so many scattered fragments of a memory that it is up to us to reconstitute intuitively.
Louis Durocher studied visual arts at Concordia University. He has participated in group exhibitions at Concordia Art Gallery, V.A. Gallery, Yahouda Meir and the Musée d'art Populaire. In !986, he presented an installation as part of Interface III. He has also given live painting performances on several occasions at Foufounes Électriques.
