Micro-residency at La HALTE: partage de pollens

On July 12 and 13, 2025, artist Maxence Croteau was in micro-residency at La HALTE to draw inspiration from the art book collection at the DARE-DARE documentation center. On September 13 at 11 a.m., come to La HALTE (Sainte-Cunégonde Park) for an end-of-residency reading followed by an open discussion.

Shared pollen

The artist offers a reading in the form of shared fragments, pieces, bits of “pollen” gleaned from books in the HALTE collection. It is simply a moment to say aloud these bits of pollen that, when shared, can turn into honey.

Against the deterritorialized ubiquity of post-internet digital technology, oppose the singular place of the Halte, which is here and now; against the exacerbated accessibility that is both paralyzing and isolating, impoverishing relationships because they lack friction, texture, and otherness, oppose the uncertain, local, erratic, felt, and sensitive connection with passersby, the living beings who inhabit the Halte. Against the infinity of millions of PDF files, oppose the handful of dog-eared, whispering books in the Halte.

On est dans une bibliothèque en plein-air, dans un jardin, dans un parc.
Essayer le dérisoire que je pouvais.
Il y a trop de culture inobservée pour en rajouter.
Lire les livres à la place.
Comment c’est continuer.
Topologie linguale.
Taxonomier le pas parlable.
Le sens d’une observance.
