Through very simple mechanisms, Peter Conlin (Vancouver) draws us into a poetic relationship with images by highlighting their fragility and ephemeral nature.

Through very simple mechanisms, Peter Conlin (Vancouver) draws us into a poetic relationship with images by highlighting their fragility and ephemeral nature. Two super 8 films were projected as a magnifying glass on screens made of a very thin layer of plaster. On the gallery floor, he allowed water saturated with salt to evaporate, leaving traces reminiscent of a bird's eye view of a landscape.

In 1997, Conlin presented the installation-performance Antichambre at DARE-DARE as part of the group exhibition Nouveaux Repères- de jeunes artistes exposent.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Peter Conlin works with drawing, performance and installation. He studied at Concordia University in Montreal (philosophy), Sheridan College in Oakville (furniture) and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, where he holds a BFA (studio and art history). He currently lives and works in Vancouver.
