ROUND TABLE

Motelisation

The "Motelization" roundtable (a coined word about the proliferation of motels) follows an exhibition of the same title recently presented at the Foreman Art Gallery at Bishop's University.

Round table moderated by Geneviève Chevalier. In a motel on the south shore of Montreal, Roxanne Arseneault (artist) and Gérard Beaudet (urban planner) present a story of the rise and fall of motels through a historical, sociological and architectural approach.

The round table takes place in the reception room of Motel Oscar in Longueuil. A shuttle will relay the Longueuil metro to the Motel.

The "Motelization" roundtable (a coined word about the proliferation of motels) follows an exhibition of the same title recently presented at the Foreman Art Gallery at Bishop's University. Designed by curator Geneviève Chevalier, the exhibition sought to explore the theme of the motel and all that surrounds it through the works of the artists: Alison SM Kobayashi and Gintas Tirilis (Toronto), Andrew King & Angela Silver (Calgary + Montreal ), Chantal Séguin (Sherbrooke), and Andrée-Anne Vien (Montreal). Like the exhibition, the round table will discuss the political, architectural, historical and socio-cultural aspects of motels.
