The project ESTHÉTIQUE BUREAUTIQUE is poetry inspired by the field of administration. An universe which is kilometres away from my occupation as an author and artist.
Yet every time I sltay in a waiting room, I carefully observe the office aesthetic. I admire the chairs, the courtesy, the paper classifications, the administrative routine, this particular computer. I am inspired by the whiteness of a dentist's office, the style of a secretary, the smell of 8.5 X 11 paper, the fingering method.
It is in this sense that the poetry of Esthétique bureautique takes shape. I observe and write in the waiting rooms to the registrar, the SAAQ, the doctor, the psychiatrist, etc. These apparently cold, zen and necessary universes are the ones that fuel my poetry.
Stéfanie (Requin) Tremblay is an artist and author from Saguenay. She holds a bachelor's degree in cinema-video and a master's degree in creation from Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Her work has been presented in several artist-run centers in Quebec - LeLobe, Espace Virtuel, VU Photo. Her current production is vascillating between the publishing of artist books and digital imagery. She explores the phenomena of popular culture using distortion and misuse of meaning. Her images, with a minimal graphic aesthetic, are accompanied by short texts of anxious poetry. Stéfanie's images form a world tinged with a nostalgia for popular cultures in the decades before 2000. Her desire to keep obsolete fashions and technologies alive does not stop her from updating her news feed.
She is currently the guest curator at the Le Lobe artist's center in Chicoutimi.
