Elsy Zavarce

Elsy Zavarce works across media (photography, video, collage and, most recently, the sewing machine), connecting ideas, memories and found objects through intimate gestures of care. Critique and poetics move together in her work, in aesthetics that stay porous and keep evolving. She asks who holds the memory of a place, and how a place holds ours. She lives and works in Griffintown, Montréal, and at times in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
