Sylvie Cotton
Sylvie Cotton was born in St-Eustache, Quebec in 1962. She studied literature at CEGEP and traveled Europe as a young nomad before founding DARE-DARE in 1985. After years as a cultural worker (including directing the Centre SKOL 1993-1995), Cotton embarked on a practice and career as an artist versed in interdisciplinarity, including performance and action art, contextual art, relational art, installation, drawing and writing. Her projects are carried out in an aesthetic of cordiality, abundance, melting and union, and their forms borrow from the modes of transmutation, offering or collection. Since 1995, she has presented her artistic projects in Quebec, the United States, Europe, Mexico and Japan.
