Sylvie Laplante

In her interdisciplinary practice, Sylvie Laplante experiences territories by walking cities or during long-distance walks into directions unknown to her, often oriented towards state borders. From these displacements, she seeks how to generate forms that can arouse and perpetuate experiences and movements of continuity, rather than establishing fixed archives. Her projects combine several mediums and means: drawing, painting, video, audio, photography, sculpture, installation, urban and territorial maneuver. Recently, she has recorded and gathered sound elements captured in the world, that she reorganizes in order to invite to explore imaginary spaces that relies on each person's own experience. In 2022, she completed a master's degree in visual and media arts at the University of Quebec in Montreal and has carried out projects in Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Quebec with the support of the CALQ.

She shares with DARE-DARE the desire to access and demystify urban and beyond the city spaces, looking at how agency as well as interstice spaces escape urban compartmentalization.
