Tania Lara Casaubon

Tania Lara Casaubon

Tania Lara is a multidisciplinary artist and textile artisan whose practice explores the relationality of space. Primarily through textile work, her practice encompasses how space is conceived, experienced and constructed, paying particular attention to the interplay between bodies, identities and geographies. Deeply rooted in a collaborative approach, Tania's process draws on the aspects of simultaneity and plurality that constitute the world to carefully fragment space into multiplicities, allowing herself to construct and share new playful sites, fertile for imagination, encounter and narrative. Originally from Mexico, she lives in Tiotha:ké/Montréal, where she completed a Master's degree in Visual and Media Arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal. In recent years, she has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions and taken part in artistic residencies in Canada, Mexico and Colombia. Her artistic practice is intertwined with a socially engaged one, whether through education, cultural mediation or critical geography.

She has joined the DARE-DARE team for a short contract in 2023-2024 as Programming and Special Projects Assistant.
